Senior Accountant - (Full Time Permanent) India

The Position:

Bank & Vogue is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Senior Accountant to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this remote role from India, you will support the financial operations of our Beyond Retro retail business, which spans across Sweden, Finland, and the United Kingdom. Reporting directly to the UK-based Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and assisting with month-end close processes. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Balance Sheet ReconciliationsReconcile key balance sheet accounts including bank, credit card, and intercompany balances across UK and Nordic entities, ensuring accuracy and timely identification of errors or anomalies.
  • Intercompany Accounting Prepare and update intercompany reconciliations, ensuring proper documentation and alignment of transactions across entities to support consolidated reporting.
  • Month-End Close Activities Contribute to the monthly close process by posting journal entries for accruals, prepayments, sales, and COGS. Ensure all entries are backed by adequate documentation and aligned with local GAAP requirements where applicable.
  • Cash & Treasury Transactions

Record international bank transfers, currency conversions, and cash transactions. Monitor FX trades and ensure accurate reflection of foreign exchange gains/losses in the ledger.

  • Financial Statements & Internal ReportingAssist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements for internal review. Collaborate with the EU-based finance team to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Budget vs Actual Analysis & Ad Hoc ReportsMaintain and update actual vs. budget tracking reports. Prepare ad hoc financial summaries, dashboards, or cost center breakdowns as requested by European retail leadership.
  • Variance AnalysisAnalyze fluctuations across expense lines such as occupancy, payroll, marketing, and store-level costs. Provide commentary and follow-up actions to support performance reviews.
  • Cross-Functional Finance SupportSupport the AP and AR functions as needed, including reviewing expense claims, resolving supplier queries, and supporting revenue recognition and reconciliation tasks.
  • Team CollaborationAttend weekly virtual team check-ins and participate in Company-wide meetings across time zones. Proactively communicate updates, delays, and insights to the broader Finance team.
  • Additional ResponsibilitiesTake on other assigned finance and reporting duties, including supporting audit requests, documentation control, and finance process improvements as directed by your manager.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Educational QualificationMaster’s degree in Commerce (M.Com) or CA Intermediate qualification preferred. Candidates with additional certifications in financial accounting or international reporting standards will be an advantage.
  • Professional ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably supporting international operations, multi-entity environments, or retail businesses.
  • Accounting Software ProficiencyExperience working with ERP or accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP. Familiarity with financial reporting tools and intercompany modules is a plus.
  • Spreadsheet & Digital Workspace SkillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation, charts, etc.) and/or Google Sheets. Ability to organize and maintain shared folders and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Drive, Docs, Slides).
  • Communication SkillsStrong verbal and written communication in English. Able to interact effectively with finance and operations teams across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Attention to DetailHigh degree of accuracy and precision in data entry, reconciliations, and reporting. Ability to spot errors and investigate discrepancies independently.
  • Organizational SkillsStrong time management and multi-tasking abilities. Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, especially around month-end and reporting deadlines.
  • Analytical ThinkingCapable of analyzing trends, variances, and financial patterns. Brings a proactive mindset to identify improvements and resolve root causes of recurring issues.
  • Independence & Remote ReadinessDemonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while staying engaged with international teams. Comfortable with virtual collaboration and remote work protocols.
