About the Role: Sales Engineer

The Menlo Security Sales Engineer is a customer-focused, highly technical professional who collaborates with Territory Sales Managers and partner organizations to deliver tailored security solutions. As a trusted advisor, the Sales Engineer supports and guides prospective and existing customers through solution design, deployment, and ongoing technical consultation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise & Solution Development:

    • Articulate the benefits of Menlo Security solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    • Research technical requirements and design solutions that align with customer needs and budget.

    • Lead Proof of Concept (POC) engagements, including solution deployment, configuration, and training.

  • Customer Engagement & Collaboration:

    • Understand customer business drivers and map them to Menlo’s security solutions.

    • Work closely with regional partners to drive partner-led opportunities and enable partner self-sufficiency.

    • Collaborate with customers to expand and optimize Menlo Security product implementations.

  • Feedback & Reporting:

    • Provide ongoing reporting and feedback to Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams.

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on Menlo Security products, industry trends, and competitor offerings.

  • Operational Excellence:

    • Act as the interface between Sales and technical teams to resolve outstanding issues.

    • Ensure project tasks are executed in a methodical and disciplined manner.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of pre-sales experience in the computer networking or cybersecurity industry.

    • Proven ability to manage Proof of Concept engagements and deliver technical solutions.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in the following areas:

  1. Networking & Security:

    • OSI Model, IPv4/IPv6, Routing, Switching, VLANs, DNS

    • Firewalls, IDS/IPS, HTTP/SSL Proxies

  2. Cybersecurity & Incident Response:

    • Malware analysis (Static, Dynamic, and Delta)

    • Host and Network Forensics (Packet Capture and Analysis)

    • Email Security (Exchange/Domino, Cloud Solutions, AV, and Anti-SPAM)

    • Incident Response workflows and evidence handling

  3. Enterprise & Virtualization:

    • Active Directory, SCCM, LDAP/RADIUS/TACACS+, Two-Factor Authentication

    • VMware, Citrix, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

  4. Tools & Methodologies:

    • Sandboxing technologies (Open-source and commercial)

    • Familiarity with hacking and exploitation tools and evasion techniques

  • Leadership & Project Management:

    • Ability to independently prioritize and execute tasks.

    • Set and manage expectations with senior stakeholders and team members.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Exceptional written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.

    • Capable of articulating both the business value and technical advantages of Menlo Security products.

  • Industry Awareness:

    • Deep understanding of competitor solutions, strengths, weaknesses, and emerging market trends.

  • Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel overnight throughout the region as required.
