Job Description for Design Engineer - Structures Online

Position-Design Engineer

Location -Kannur

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer with a focus on structural engineering to join our remote team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in structural design, particularly with a focus on steel structures, and be well-versed in AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) standards and codes. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and ensuring the structural integrity of steel components and systems, using AISC guidelines for compliance, safety, and functionality. As a Design Engineer, you will collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and fabricators to create efficient, safe, and cost-effective solutions for a wide range of structural projects.

About Us:Founded in 2000, Structures Online (SOL) is the first AISC Steel Detailing organization operating out of India. At 650+ people, we are also one of the largest.

SOL provides Steel Detailing and associated services for clients in the US. Our detailing services are utilised by over 60+ fabricators and erectors present in over 20 states. We operate out of four offices: Headquartered in Noida, with satellite offices in Mysore and Kannur, as well as a Project Management office in Phoenix, Arizona.

Being a frontrunner in the Steel Detailing Industry, SOL is also looking to expand its Engineering operations in US and other geographies. To achieve the same, we are planning to establish a new Engineering department in our Noida office and looking for experienced, dynamic individuals to lead our efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Studying scope of work, specs, design according to the Clients Standard.
• Preparing Wire Frame & Connection using Tekla.
• Proficient in Stair & Handrail Modeling.
• Reviewing approvers comments & preparing Post Review Queries’.
• Ensuring AISC, AWS, OSHA, IBC Code in the Modeling Process.
• Coordination of work flow in the Team and raising RFI.
• Creating Assembly drawings, Multi & Single part Drawings.
• Creating CNC, XML, ABOM & other reports.
• Creating the Final package for submission to the Client.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in structural design, with a focus on steel structures, and familiarity with AISC standards.
• Proficient in structural analysis and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, or similar.
• Familiarity with international design codes and standards (e.g., AISC).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a remote work environment.
