About the Role – Principal Engineer (AI-driven Search)

AI is one of the fastest-growing areas at Seismic, particularly Generative AI, which is transforming how enterprise sales and marketing operate.

As a Principal Engineer for AI-driven Search, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI-first, multi-domain, and multi-modality content discovery and curation. You will design, develop, and integrate advanced AI search capabilities that power our platform and enhance customer value.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Technology & Architecture Development

   • Define and drive the AI search technology and architecture strategy.

   • Align technical initiatives with business goals and product roadmaps.

2. AI Search Use Case Development

   • Collaborate with Data Scientists and Search Engineers to build AI-first content discovery and curation solutions.

   • Evaluate trade-offs and deliver high-quality, scalable products.

3. Integration

   • Lead the integration of AI search across the Seismic platform, including conversational intelligence, video analysis, and content management.

4. Technical Leadership

   • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering teams.

   • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

5. Product Innovation

   • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to identify AI-driven search opportunities and shape the product roadmap.

6. Performance Optimization

   • Define and monitor key performance metrics to ensure high-quality and reliable solutions.

What You Bring to the Team

Experience

• 12+ years of experience (or 8+ years with an advanced degree) delivering software solutions and information retrieval systems.

• Proven track record in building and leading AI search and discovery products.

Technical Expertise

• Strong experience with C# and .NET, unit testing, object-oriented programming, and relational databases.

• Familiarity with:

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Terraform, Pulumi (preferred).

  • Event-driven architectures – Kafka (preferred).

  • Feature management – LaunchDarkly (preferred).

• Knowledge of front-end/full-stack development is a plus.

Cloud Expertise

• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.

• Experience deploying containerized applications on Kubernetes is a plus.

Search & Retrieval Platforms

• Expertise in platforms like ElasticSearch or Apache Solr (preferred).

• Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), semantic search, and Generative AI use cases.

SaaS Knowledge

• Deep understanding of SaaS application development and cloud technologies.

• Experience developing AI-powered SaaS solutions.

Product Development

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with product management and design teams.

Leadership Skills

• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to align cross-functional teams and drive technical vision.

Strategic Mindset

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

• Ability to innovate while maintaining a strategic focus.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
