Role Summary

As Engineering Manager, you’ll oversee our 15-step product development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver features that improve experiences for both requestors and healthcare providers. You'll guide product architecture, lead squads in Agile development, and report directly to the VP of Product Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering teams across Development, DevOps, and QA

• Guide product development for feature-rich releases

• Own and inform the product roadmap, estimation, testing, and deployment processes

• Collaborate with UX and Product teams for user-centered solutions

• Contribute technically as an architectural lead and occasional individual contributor

• Foster growth through mentoring and hiring

• Conduct weekly LVL10 departmental meetings and set development team goals

• Promote ChartRequest's PATH values (Polite, Accountable, Trustworthy, Helpful)

• Manage a remote, global engineering workforce

• Align tech roadmaps with company goals and adapt team structures as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7–10 years experience designing and developing large-scale, public-facing web apps in AWS

• Minimum 3 years experience managing engineering teams (10–15 members)

• Proven leadership, mentorship, and engineering strategy experience

• Strong full-stack development background (frontend, backend, and database)

• Excellent problem-solving and architectural design abilities

• Experience in distributed, highly available system design

• Solid API development background

• Strong communication skills — able to present complex technical concepts clearly

• Excellent organizational and team-building skills

Preferred Technical Experience

• Languages/Frameworks: Ruby, Rails (or similar MVC frameworks), Node.js, JavaScript, React/Redux

• Databases: MySQL

• Tools/Environment: AWS, Git, Linux

• Test-driven development practices

• Experience with serverless platforms and modern web frameworks
